Step 2
You will receive an Application Form to be completed and submitted no later than September 13 for EU-citizens and June 15 for non-EU citizens.Together with the Application Form, foreign citizens applying to the University of Food Technologies must present the documents listed below:
1. Diploma (a copy) of completed secondary (high) school education and an academic transcript indicating the disciplines studied and the grades received.
2. Document (original) issued by a competent authority, certifying the applicant's right to apply and continue their education in higher schools/universities in the country of origin of the secondary (high) school they have attended.
3. Academic transcript (original) issued by the previous university indicating the disciplines, the tuition hours and the grades received - only in case of applying for a partial course of education (transfer from another university).
4. Health certificate (original) issued not earlier than one month prior to application and verified in the country from which the candidate is applying.
5. Document (a verified copy) certifying the citizenship or two documents certifying the citizenship - for the candidates with dual citizenship, one of which is Bulgarian.
6. Document (a verified copy certifying the level of language proficiency in Bulgarian or English, depending on the chosen language of study).
7. Two recent photos - 4/5 cm.
The documents listed above (p. 1, 2, 3, 4) must be legalized (Apostille-affixed), translated in Bulgarian and verified according to the official state procedures.
The documents (original plus two photocopies for non-EU citizens) must be submitted to the International Integration and Qualification Improvement Centre by the applicants or by their representatives to be considered for admission.
Please note: Foreign citizens can apply for all Bachelor's degree and Master's degree programs taught in Bulgarian, which are announced at the university website. If the applicant is proficient in Bulgarian language, he/she should submit a document, issued by a higher education institution in Bulgaria, which certifies language proficiency. If the applicant is not proficient in Bulgarian language, he/she can enroll in a preparatory 9-month language course at the University of Food Technologies, following the application procedures discussed above or apply for the programs in English.

Step 3
The university sends the applicant's documents to the Ministry of Education and Science in order to complete the procedure for issuing long-stay visas (Type D visa).
Type D visa is not required for citizens of the European Union and the European Economic Area, foreign citizens with permanent residence in the Republic of Bulgaria, and applicants with dual citizenship, one of which is Bulgarian.
Step 4
Upon the receipt of the applicant's admission certificate issued by the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science and the issuing of type "D" visa, the applicant should deposit the tuition fee into the university bank account and enrol in the respective program.

VISA Information
Non-EU citizens who would like to reside for study at the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria must have visas type D. The certificates required by the Bulgarian Embassies when applying for a visa are issued by the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science to the applicants approved for study.
Non-EU citizens submit their application documents not later than 15 June in order their visa formalities to be settled before the beginning of the academic year
Medical care for foreign citizens
Health insurance is obligatory for all non-EU citizens. The health insurance is necessary also for visa issuing.
All EU-citizens must have EHIC cards that should be updated every year.
Annual tuition fees expected to be charged for foreign students:
- Bachelor’s:
Full-time training in Bulgarian: 3000 EUR;
Full-time training in a foreign language: 3500 EUR;
Part-time training in Bulgarian: 2500 EUR;
Part-time training in a foreign language: 3000 EUR;
- Master’s:
Full-time and Part-time training in Bulgarian: 3000 EUR;
Full-time training in a foreign language: 3500 EUR;
Part-time training in a foreign language: 3000 EUR;
- Master’s after Bachelor’s in a different specialty:
Full-time training in Bulgarian: 3000 EUR;
Full-time training in a foreign language: 3500 EUR;
Part-time training in Bulgarian language: 2500 EUR;
Part-time training in a foreign language: 3000 EUR;
- PhD training:
Full-time training in Bulgarian: 3500 EUR;
Full-time training in a foreign language: 4000 EUR;

- The fee for one-year Bulgarian or English Language Training Course is 2500 EUR.
Preparatory Language Courses
The University of Food Technologies provides group or individual language courses in several languages (Bulgarian, English, French, German and Russian) and at different levels. The courses are organized by the Department of Language Training. They are held by qualified teachers who prepare students for their future studies.
Post-graduate Training
The post-graduate training is organized and managed by the Qualification Improvement Centre (QIC). Its educational activities spread over all spheres of biotechnology, food and flavour technology. They cover the fields of tourism, machines and apparatus for the food industry, heat and mass exchange engineering, energy efficiency and management, quality control and quality management, business administration, etc.
