Academic Publishing House of University of Food Technologies – Plovdiv

The Academic Publishing House of University of Food Technologies – Plovdiv was established 70 years ago – in 1953. In 2000, the Academic Publishing House underwent certain structural changes. The currently active logo of the publishing house also dates from that time.

Its mission was to publish textbooks and teaching aids to ensure the learning process of the students being taught. It publishes monographs, books and scientific journals of the University.

Over the years, the Academic Publishing House of the University of Food Technology, Plovdiv has published hundreds of textbooks, scientific books and monographs, exercise manuals in various disciplines, handbooks and other scientific literature in the field of science and technology of food, beverages, perfumery and cosmetics, machinery and automation, management and advertising of enterprises from the food industry.

Over the Years

  • From 1953 to 2019, it also published the scientific journal Science Works, later renamed Science Works of the University of Food Technology. The same was indexed in the AGRIS, FSTA and EBSCO databases.

  • In 2018, the Academic Publishing House of University of Food Technologies – Plovdiv began publishing a second international journal Food Science and Applied Biotechnology – in electronic format, with open-access, which from 2022 is indexed in the Scopus DOAJ, Google Scholar, Scope, and Index Copernicus databases.

  • Since 2020, the Academic Publishing House of University of Food Technologies – Plovdiv has been in collaboration with the EDP Sciences company and is annually engaged in publishing a volume of the BIO Web of Conferences journal (indexed in Biological Science Database (ProQuest),

CABI, CNKI, Conference Proceedings Citation Index of Web of Science, DOAJ, EBSCO, Google Scholar, IET INSPEC, Natural Science Collection (ProQuest), SciTech Premium Collection (ProQuest), Scopus, Wanfang Data databases), in which the full text and reports of our annual scientific conference with international participation are published.

The Academic Publishing House of University of Food Technologies – Plovdiv is managed by the Vice chancellor for scientific and international affairs, who is replaced every 4 years.  For the 2020-2023 term, this position is occupied by Prof. Eng. Galin Ivanov DSc.

Editor-in-chief of the journals published by the Academic Publishing House of University of Food Technologies – Plovdiv and of the materials with the full text of the reports from the annual scientific conference with international participation „Food Science, Equipment and Technology“ is the Corresponding member of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Prof. Eng. Stefan Dragoev, DSc.

Prof. Eng. Nedyalko Katrandzhiev, PhD – Co-Editor of the international journal Food Science and Applied Biotechnology (editor.in.chief@ijfsab.com) is authorized to view and submit all journals to the publisher (Academic Publishing House of University of Food Technologies – Plovdiv) to Clarivate (Web of Science).
